Good Days, the nation’s leading patient assistance and advocacy nonprofit, is proud to announce the official calendar for the 2024 Chronic Disease Day campaign.
Chronic Disease Day is observed annually on July 10 to raise awareness that seven of the top 10 causes of death in the U.S. stem from chronic illnesses. This annual campaign, established by Good Days, underscores a commitment to lowering the number of preventable deaths caused by chronic illness and the need to dedicate more resources to treat and cure unpreventable conditions.
“Life expectancy in America has begun to drop behind peer nations because of a surge in preventable chronic illness,” said Clorinda Walley, president of Good Days. “At the same time, many individuals with unpreventable conditions lack access to life-saving medication and treatments. The urgency for change has never been more apparent. We look forward to working with our partners in the Chronic Disease Alliance, across federal and state health agencies, and with all stakeholders who can help foster a healthier nation and more supportive healthcare system throughout this year’s campaign.”
Campaign activities leading up to July 10 advocate for improved health policies, support chronic disease prevention, and aim to expand access to care for everyone.
2024 Campaign Events:
- Virtual Events on Health Disparities and Nutrition: Kickstarting the campaign are two virtual discussions: "Eliminating Health Disparities" on April 25, and "Nutrition, Obesity & Chronic Disease Prevention" on June 13. These sessions will feature esteemed speakers including leading voices in patient advocacy and from the U.S. Congress focusing on critical issues of health equity and the role of nutrition in chronic disease prevention.
- Leadership Summit in North Texas: On July 8, Good Days will convene a Leadership Summit in Frisco, TX, bringing together patient and provider perspectives in a region rapidly becoming a national life sciences hub. This symposium and luncheon aim to forge pathways for innovation and collaboration in disease treatment and prevention.
- Policy Forum in Washington, DC: The campaign will culminate in a Policy Forum on Chronic Disease Day, July 10, in Washington, DC. This event is a cornerstone for patient advocacy, featuring a luncheon briefing with legislators, congressional staff, advocates, and partners from the Chronic Disease Alliance, and honoring champions for the chronic and rare disease community.
